Hi Kevin, 

What are you securing to the wall/ floor with the expansion bolt? From your photo you have chosen to use a bolt with a long thread, therefore I would imagine some thick wood or rectangular steel? If the outside diameter of the expansion is 14mm then you should drill a pilot hole first using 5 -7mm masonry drill bit, before using the final size. You haven’t mentioned what you are drilling into ~ brick, block or concrete as this would could mean you would use a 13mm drill bit if it is low density/ aerated material.  I trust this helps, if not, please contact us.
