Hi Richard, once the clear wrap is removed from the product you can find the end of the yellow line by looking for the loose end identifiable by the dark end where it has been sealed with a lighter flame. If you tie this end off first, the spool rotates on the soil spike until you reach the required length and then can be clipped into one of the pinch points on the black frame.
