Although our Cutters come ready for use but should be honed occasionally for optimum cutting. Using a thin flat file, a sharpening stone or 320x sandpaper glued to hardboard, hone the face of each tooth, maintaining the factory rake angle. After prolonged use, if the tips dull, file the top bevel at the original angle.
As you are aware oak is a Hardwood so i would definitely advise sharpening them before trying again.
