I would recommend you practice your technique on a few offcuts before making a final size cut on your new glass. Make sure that the glass is firmly supported and apply constant pressure to the tool over the whole length of the cut and only scribe once – use a suitable lubricate on the diamond tip such as paraffin, vegetable oil or even moisture displacement liquid. Remember to wear protective gloves and eyewear and depending on the tempering of the glass, it can sometimes behave in unexpected ways even to experienced glaziers.
