Hi Jackie,

To apply the suction base please make sure the base you are sticking it to is, a smooth, flat nonporous surface.  The suction will not work on a grained wooden workbench as the suction cup cannot draw a vacuum on it. moisten the base slightly and after positioning push the lever forward to lock into position.
