Hi Paola,

 please open the pliers, you should see the small spring close to the top, with your finger nail you should be able to remove the spring, 

please examine the spring to see if it looks broken or damaged. if it looks fine please reseat the spring, their are 2 holes one on either arm the spring must be located in both these holes to work properly. Once done it should work fine.
