Hi, the self- adjusting’ term refers to the clamping jaws that offer an infinite clamping range within the maximum opening capacity of the jaws. Unfortunately the spring force cannot be reduced. You would have to change to a clamp with a screwed jaw, like an F or a G clamp if you wanted to be able to apply a variable amount if force. I trust this helps.
