Hi Laura,

Having selected the appropriate letter/numeral and inserted in the end of the spring punch, you push down firmly and this transfers the imprint into the material.

It is suitable for use on light aluminium, copper & brass, silver etc. It is not suitable for use on mild steel, stainless steel, cast iron or other hard metals – for this you would need to use stamps that you strike with a hammer.
